Every year we support 4 Charities,
The Current charities we are supporting are:
Battle Back is an adaptive sport and adventurous training programme for wounded, injured and sick (WlS) personnel from across the Armed Forces, such as servicemen, servicewomen and veterans, including mobilised reservists. lt is an MOD initiative delivered in partnership with Help for Heroes and The Royal British Legion.
¨ Battle Back programmes are designed to promote confidence and independence and help accelerate physical, psychological and social recovery throughout the duration of recovery - inspiring the wounded, injured and sick to focus on what they can do not what they cannot.
¨ Battle Back Phoenix for WIS veterans is operated and funded by Help for Heroes. Help for Heroes is acknowledged as the Founder Partner of Battle Back, and has been involved from the outset providing financial and design input.
ln support of the Battle Back programme, the Battle Back Centres have been established by The Royal British Legion at the National Sports' Centre, Lilleshall and at the Defence Medical and Rehabilitation Centre Headley Court.
This is the support this Charity has given below:
“This year’s Masters Charity designated by our Worshipful Master is very personal and close to my heart. As a survivor of being diagnosed with PTSD, the Battle Back Program was one of the main factors that helped my progress back to work and gave me the tools required to overcome the PTSD disease. There were many things I gained from the therapy, including confidence building and adventure training, to group discussions and mental health awareness training and much more. In essence you can say that the Battle Back Program saved my life. I and my family are extremely grateful, it’s needless to say that I am definitely not the only one the programme has saved – the work they do is invaluable and must be continued.”
Prebendal Housing Association:
Our History
The Masonic Housing Association (MHA) was formed in 1975 as an exempt charity to take advantage of the financial provisions made available to Housing Associations under the Housing Act of 1974.
Our objective is to build and manage housing schemes for the elderly who can generally lead an independent existence but would benefit for having community services. MHA currently has 189 flats spread across five Houses in various parts of the country. The first House opened was Prebendal Close in Buckinghamshire which opened its doors in 1980 followed by Hamilton Court in Essex in 1983. Palmer Court in Northants was opened in 1984 and further enlarged in the early 2000.
Reading Court in Warwickshire was built in the late 1980’s and opened in 1987 followed by Wilson Keyes Court in Staffordshire in 1994.
As a consequence of receiving Government grants some lettings must be offered to nominees of the Local Authority and therefore MHA cannot restrict occupancy solely to those with Masonic connections. However, offering such residence the MHA is visibly demonstrating that Masonry in the Community is very much part of its ethos.
Strong support for each House has and is given by the various Lodges and other Masonic Orders within each Province. Such support provides additional amenities and social activities for our residents.
Today, the MHA is a vibrant forward thinking organisation which fully fulfils its mission of providing quality rented accommodation of a high standard to elderly people.
